Pure cotton fabric has properties of soft handle, good wettablity and air permeability , comfort to be wore. For these merits, cotton fabric is preferred by people. But it has a severe defect that wrinkle is easy to appear when it is wore or washed, so ironing is always needed which leads to be used inconveniently. To improve the crease resistance of the cotton fabric, anti-crease finish is necessary. Mechanical properties of the anti-crease finished cotton fabrics is remarkably declined, wrinkle recoverablity become better, however the breaking strength, the tearing strength and the wear-resistance all descend to some extent simultaneously. These factors affect wearing characteristics of cotton fabrics. So how to decrease the strength loss of cotton fabrics during the anti-crease finish has become an important subject.At present ,improving finishing agents, using new auxiliaries and improving finishing process are several main ways to decrease the strength loss of cotton fabrics during anti-crease finish. But some present ways can weaken crosslinking between agents and fibres to decrease wrinkle recoverability and degree of non-ironing while they improve breaking strength, tearing strength and wear-resistence of fabrics. There isn't satisfactory way to improve effectively the preserving ratio of fabric strength during anti-crease finish. Real-life and economic value would be achieved to enhance the research of this area and look for reasonable method to meet the wearing demands of consumers and increase the additive merits.This study is established in researching the way can supply ideal durable press effect with high strength retention for light cotton fabrics. Firstly we researched the reason and mechanism of the strength loss of finished cotton fabrics, the factors that affect the fabric strength are various, simply caused by heat is generally about 5%, and the strength loss caused by acid during drying and curing at high temperatures is about 20%, Caused by stress concentration is another important factor, is about 20%. This issue mainly used the ways of selecting finishing agents, building auxiliaries and studying finishing process to get the best dry crosslinking process.The study results indicate that the fabric is cured under tention can reduce the intramolecular cross-linking to increase the strength reservation , and the WRA of the treated fabrics varies a little because of the cross-linking between molecules have little affected. The polyurethane combine with the cross linking agent can maintain the original WRA and improve the tear strength , but the polyurethane is not washable , and have a little influence for DP . The silicone combine with the cross linking agent not only makes the WRA and DP substantial increase, but also significantly improved the tear strength. The research results provide a referential way for strength protection of non-ironing finishing pure cotton fabrics and show a good prospect.
