Cotton fabrics have good moisture absorption and are comfortable to wear but itis difficult to care. Therefore, anti-wrinkle finishing of cotton fabric is very importantto improve its wearability. Conventional anti-wrinkle finishing agents include smallmolecule crosslinking agents and resin which can form crosslinking betweenmolecular chains to limit the slippage of molecular chains. N-methylol agentscurrently are widely used in commercial durable press (DP) finishing, but itsformaldehyde releasing during fabric treatment, garment fabrication and variousstages of apparel storage is threatening human health. CA is known as anenvironmentally friendly and cost-effective cotton cross-linking agent, but it has thetendency to decrease the whiteness of treated fabrics severely. BTCA has been provedto be the most efficient crosslinking agent for cotton fabrics among various effectivepoly carboxylic acids, but its cost is too high to be applied in industry. In this paper, several new crosslinking agent were synthesized in this paper. And cotton fabric canbe finished by these agent in alkaline condition, eliminating the degradation ofcellulose fiber in acidic condition. In addition, the best finishing processes wereexplored under the baking and steaming condition. And the alkaline crosslinkingmechanism was explored by infrared spectrum analysis. The research shows that the cotton fabric can be coloured by reactive dyes, dueto the replace or nucleophilic addition reaction between active group and cellulosefiber, which was called crosslinking reaction. Therefore, in this point of view, thevinyl sulfone, triazine and acrylamide were introduced into the crosslinking agent tosynthesis2,4-dichloro-6-(β-sulphatoethylsulphony)aniline-s-triazine(DC-SES),2,4-diacrylamidiobenzenesulphonic acid (m-DABS),2,5-diacrylamidiobenzenesulphonic acid (o-DABS), 2,4-didichlorotriazinebenzenesulphonic acid (m-DCBS), and2,5-didichlorotriazinebenzenesulphonic acid (o-DCBS). At the same time,1,3,5-triacroylaminohexahydro-s-triazine(FAP), N,N-methylenebisacrylamide(MBA)and the BTCA, CA were also used to finish the cotton fabrics to make comparisonwith the synthesized agent.Firstly, to explore the finishing process of DC-SES, it can be founded thatsteaming process is superior to curing process, but the improving performance of thecotton fabric anti-wrinkle was unconspicuous. Compared with original fabric, theWRA has only31°raising.After exploring the m-DABS finishing process, it also can be founded that thesteaming process is far superior to baking process. Through analyzing each factorinfluencing anti-wrinkle properties, as well as orthogonal experiment, what can beconcluded was that when m-DABS80g/L, sodium carbonate20g/L, steamingtemperature110℃, humidity75%, steaming time5min, the cotton fabric can achievethe best finishing effect, and its WRA can raising74°, strength retention rate reached87.6%. Then compared the performance of m-DABS and o-DABS under differentchanging factors, it has been founded that the o-DABS-treated fabric crease recoveryangle is slightly better than the m-DABS-treated fabric, but lower strength retentionrate.Continue to explore the m-DCBS and o-DCBS anti-wrinkle finishing process ofcotton fabric, it can be obtained that these crosslinking agents for cotton fabric havelittle difference. When the concentration of crosslinking agent80g/L, sodiumcarbonate20g/L, steaming temperature95℃, humidity60%, steaming time4min, theDCBS-treated fabric can obtain the best performance. The cotton fabric WRA canpromote58°, strength retention rate was90.6%.Finally, compared alkaline crosslinking agent with BTCA and CA, it can befounded that the strength retention rate of alkaline crosslinking agent treated fabricis far higher than acid crosslinking, but its washing fastness is relatively poor.
