The press screw plays a key feature role on the oil screw press, however, it is the main wear part at the same time. Ordinary press screws designed with traditional methods often lead to agglomeration and the formation of stagnant zones congestion of the press materials, resulting in increased power consumption and decreased oil yield. By changing the design of the pressing screw's pitch and diameter, the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches can change the oil particles bonding effect so that the press materials'returning back phenomenon will be overcome and the press materials will be pre-compressed in the process of carrying and squeezing. This paper presents a new design thought of press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches,and it can give theory basis and method reference for the experimental study and follow-up product development of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches.Parametric design of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches is the core of the whole modeling process, it is a new and practical engineering design method. In this study, the size driving technology is connected. By changing the size constraints, automatic regenerations of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches will come out directly, so the design rate can be improved during the repeating optimizing process. ANSYS Parametric Design Language was used in this study on the physical model of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches ,meanwhile, physical model of the press screw with unchanged diameter and pitch, physical model of the press screw with variable diameters and unchanged pitch and physical model of the press screw with unchanged diameter and variable pitches were established as the explorations to verify this universal method.Modeling function of the Pro / ENGINEER software was adopted to develop and analyze the physical 3D models of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches and the ordinary press screw. Standardized model library of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches was setup when analyzing the modeling steps. Respective superiority of the ANSYS Parametric Design Language modeling and the people/machine interactive modeling under Pro/E environment were demonstrated through comparing the modeling processes with the two modeling methods.The most optimized design goals were achieved after the follow-up study of the static analysis, sensitivity analysis, optimization analysis, meshing, structural dynamics model analysis and fatigue analysis of the parametric solid models of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches. During the analysis processes above, parameters were reset time and time again to get them further optimized and improved.In this paper, the complex modeling process of the press screw with variable diameters and variable pitches was explored, a new simple and feasible design method was proposed for the design of other similar complex solid models.
