High molecular weight poly (styrene-co-maleic anhydride) was synthesized by precipitation polymerization. Influences of reaction temperature, monomer concentration, monomer ratio, reaction time, initiator concentration, stir and reaction medium on molecular weight of copolymers were investigated. The copolymers with Mn of 1.59×106 could be synthesized. Influences of reaction medium and monomer concentration on morphology and diameter of copolymers were studied, and the mechanism of different morphology of copolymers was also investigated.Poly (maleic anhydride-co-butadiene) microspheres and poly (maleic anhydride-co-isoprene) microspheres were synthesized by precipitation polymerization. Influences of stir, monomer ratio, reaction time and reaction medium on morphology and diameter of poly (maleic anhydride-co-butadiene) microspheres were studied, and influences of stir, monomer concentration, category of initiators, reaction temperature and reaction medium on morphology and diameter of poly (maleic anhydride-co-isoprene) microspheres were also investigated. It's demonstrated that poly (maleic anhydride-co-butadiene) microspheres and poly (maleic anhydride-co-isoprene) microspheres we synthesized were cross-linked, thanks to which core-shell microspheres and hollow microspheres were prepared with poly (maleic anhydride-co-isoprene) microspheres.Microspheres of cross-linked poly (maleic anhydride-co-vinyl acetate) were synthesized by precipitation polymerization, and influences of category of initiators, monomer concentration, monomer ratio and the concentration of cross linker on morphology and diameter of copolymers microspheres were studied. It's shown that the morphology of copolymers could be sphere, potato-like and heart-like. Influences of different reaction time on morphology of copolymers were investigated, which demonstrates the mechanism of different morphology of copolymers.
