Acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive have practical applications in packaging industry and electronic industry. But acrylate copolymer is mainly composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. When they are used in the retardant field, flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive with decreasing the sensitivity were often manufactured by adding fire retardants for good flame retardant fuction. In this paper, a series of polyacrylates were synthesized by coplymerized general acrylates with vinyl unsaturated phosphate monomers through radical solution polymerization in order to prepare pressure sensitive adhesives with flame retardance. Then used them as adhering material, flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive were manufactured by adding ammonium polyphosphate as flame retardants. The flame retardant ability of the title flame retarded pressure sensitive adhesive can be easily achived with mixing a small inorganic flame retardant. So the flame retardant pressure sensitive adhesive with excellent performance and good flame retardant fuction were prepared by mixing the copolymer solutions with ammonium polyphosphate in high speed disperision. The main conclusions can be drawn as follows:Firstly, a series of self cross-linking pressure sensitive adhesive are synthesized by solution polymerization with butyl acrylate,2-ethylhexyl ester, vinyl acetate,2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and acrylic acid used as monomers, xylene and ethyl acetate as solvent. As it for adhering material, flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive is prepared by adding ammonium polyphosphate as flame retardants. When the mass ratio of BA,2-EHA, VAc, HEA and AA is 42.6:4.2:8.5:42.6:2.1, the dosage of BPO is 1.4wt% and dosage of ammonium polyphosphate is 28wt%, the pressure sensitive ability is close to that of BMS 5-133D, but flame retardence is not reach to that of BMS 5-133D.Secondly, in order to improve pressure sensitive without decreasing the flame retardancy, the acrylate copolymer containing phosphate methacrylate were synthesized by solution polymerization. The result copolymers were charactered by IR and DSC, and the results showed that the phosphate monomer had been copolymerized with other acrylates. The effects of the initiator dosage, the ratio and composition of monomers, the kinds and amounts of phosphate monomer on pressure sensitivity and flame retardancy of acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive were discussed one by one. When the mass ratio of BA,2-EHA, VAc, HEA and AA is 456.0:4.2:23.7:14.0:2.1:10.0, and dosage of BPO is 0.6wt%, the pressure sensitive ability of pressure sensitive adhesive and imported sample specification BMS 5-133D equals each other, but flame retardence is not reach to that of BMS 5-133D.Thirdly, as flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive containing phosphate monomer for adhering material, flame retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive with excellent performance and good flame retardant fuction is prepared by adding ammonium polyphosphate as flame retardants. The results of the performance and flame retardence of copolymer containing phosphate monomer show that the best mass ratio of BA,2-EHA, VAc, HEA, AA and PAM-300 is 56.0:4.2:23.7:14.0:2.1:10.0, the dosage of BPO is 0.6wt%, and the amount of ammonium poly-phosphate is decreased to 24wt%, the performance of pressure sensitive adhesive and flame retardencity exceed that of BMS 5-133D. It shows that the flame retardant ability of the title flame retarded pressure sensitive adhesive can be easily achived with mixing a small inorganic flame retardant. A key bottle-neck, the equilibrium between the pressure sensitive ability and flame retardant ability, were overcomed by means of this method completely.
