In recent years, digital jet printing advertising materials have made rapid development and been widely used in bus, subway and other flow media. However, the back glue of existing advertising materials bases on solvent-based pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) and causes environmental pollution to certain extent. If solvent-based PSA could be replaced by emulsion PSA, it is possible to reduce the influence to the environment greatly. In this paper, butyl acrylate (BA) and2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) were used as soft monomers, while methyl methacrylate (MMA) and vinyl acetate (VAc) were used as hard monomers. Seed emulsion and pre-emulsification of shell monomers were prepared in advance, then pre-emulsified shell monomers were added into seed emulsion and conducted core-shell emulsion polymerization. The effect of soft/hard monomer ratio on mechanical propeties of emulsion PSA was investigated. On the above basis, the core-shell crosslinked emulsion was prepared via polymerization, and the influence of crosslinking syetem and various additives on mechanical properties of emulsion PSA was discussed. The experiment results showed that soft monomers and hard monomers could improve the adhesive force and cohesive force of emulsion PSA respectively. The comprehensive performances of emulsion PSA could be enhanced via core-shell crosslinking reaction. The peel strength, initial strength and holding strength of composite of PSA emulsion and additives were7.3N,4.5N/25mm and>48h respectively, meeting application demands on digital jet printing advertising materials.
