Particleboards, as one of interior decoration materials, release organic compounds which harm human and environment in wood processing and utilizing. VOCs consist of aldehydes, terpenes, alkanes, terpenes, aromatic hydrocarbons and other volatile compounds. In this thesis, by taking poplar particleboards as the research object, the research on concentration of total volatile organic compound and the formaldehyde was studied. The thesis key research the chemical composition, the release rule and the influence factors of VOCs in the process of veneer finishing and evaluation the emission of VOCs in the assembly course of veneer finishing particleboards. The basic data was provided for controlling the emission of VOCs on particleboard substrate effectively. Finally, prevention measures are put forward. The main conclusions obtained from the research are as followed:1 Different finishing material could control the emission of VOCs on Particleboard substrate effectively. Polyethylene film paper was the best finishing material to reduce the release of TVOC and the formaldehyde, the barrier effect of melamine paper and wood veneer ranked secondly. The barrier effect of water-based paint was not better.2 The poplar particleboard before the finishing released the 21 components, mainly composed of 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, mono(2-ethylhexyl) ester, while 16 components after veneer finishing with the low relative content.3 In order to make particleboard have the least emission in a short period, four factors-three levels orthogonal experiment was used to optimized the processing parameter. The optimal condition:adhesive ratio 60:40, glue consumption 100g/m2, temperature 100℃,time 3min.4 Single factor experiments were used to investigate the effects of adhesive ratio, glue consumption, temperature, and species of veneer. The results showed that with temperature and glue consumption increasing, the TVOC concentration increased. With the adhesive ratio increasing, the TVOC concentration first increased and then dropped.5 The composition of VOCs emit from veneer finishing particleboards in different conditions are analyzed. The result shows the composition of VOCs influenced by the conditions. With glue content increasing, relative content of volatile alkanes, aromatic compounds increased, while terpenes and main volatile components of particleboards decreased. With temperature increasing, relative content of volatile alkanes and terpenes decreased, while aromatic compounds increased. In the veneer species experiment, the number of VOCs components was the most among the 3 veneer species particleboards, and a-pinene and other alkanes were found. In addition to esters, relative content of the composition of pine veneer particleboards was the largest, while the relative content of black walnut was the least.6 Through Compositions decay test of veneer finishing particleboaras, the results showed that with the time increasing, the number of Compositions decreased; The relative content of alkane Compositions decreased with time. The relative content of terpenes increased with time increasing, while the relative content of aromatic substances changed little.
