With the Municipal Sewage Treatment Plants discharge more and more sludge, the sludge has become a new solid waste pollution on the environment, so the sludge treatment is necessary. Sludge incinerate in Thermal Power Plant is a very good way for sludge treatment as there are many successful examples in cities of China. In this paper, the main characteristics of Hefei sewage sludge and sludge mixed with coal burning were studied. The study of sludge combustion optimization for Thermal Power Plant was carried out. The Temperature Control Model of Hefei Thermal Power Plant was established, and the obtained parameters of the simulation were tested.Through research, concluded as follows:(1) The content of organic matter of sludge is high and the calorific value of dry basis is high as well, so the sludge can be incinerated. But the calorific values of sludge changes greatly with different seasons or different months. The high water content of sludge brings to the burning of uncertainty.The volatile content of sludge is very high. The ash content of sludge is high. The fixed carbon content of sludge is very low.Sludge contains a certain amount of nitrogen and sulfur, so after burning, the flue gas should be processed on the flue gas equipment to reach the discharge standards.(2) Sewage sludge and coal can be burned completely at 900℃. The temperature has nothing to do with whether the sludge is mixed with coal combustion and the proportion.We can not ascertain the proportion of sludge and coal only by the weight loss.(3) The sludge mixed with coal combust in Thermal Power Plant has unique technical advantages and economic advantages: fuel adaptability; The combustion efficiency is high; The range of load adjustment is large; fast load regulation; Low air environmental pollution; The ash can be comprehensive utilization, The bed has no buried heating surface; Do not need a separate establishment of incinerators, only to reform of the power plant boilers; Small investment; low running costs.(4) The Temperature Control Model of Hefei Thermal Power Plant was established, and the PID parameters from the computer simulation were tested. The control effect was satisfactory.
