Traffic noise is one kind of serious problems puzzling human life, and tyre-to-road one becomes main source, with the development of transportation industry and improvement of road quality classification gradually, especially at a high-speed case. Therefore, it is the chief approach on how to cut down tyre-to-road noise in an effective way, as well as important meaning in enhancing people's living quality.This paper begins with composition and mechanism of tyre-to-road noise, discussing the cause of noise, summing up every influence factor. In the middle of the paper, it introduces basic methods about tyre-to-road noise controlling and advantages/disadvantages of different government measures, from vehicles, road and tyres, combining with three stages of noise spreading, according to different cycles that road noises arise. It's mainly about types of low-noise pavement, noise reduction mechanisms and their effect, including it's advantages and disadvantages, and low-noise pavement is another effective method of tyre-to-road noise reduction. Through comparing with test methods of the tyre-to-road noise are made both at home and abroad, every method's main application of testing result and their odds are discussed, and the reference are provided about choosing the correct test plan in actual situation.With the test on tyre-to-road noise of diverse pavement structure types by the controlled pass-by method, the actual noise reduction effects are studied of 5 different pavements and the different pavement types have the different attenuation effect of tyre-to-road noise. Experiment results indicate that:it can cut 6dB,7dB and 1.5dB on SMA-13 pavement, OGFC-13 pavement and AC pavement respectively, comparing with PCC pavement, whereas, with 5dB reduction on SMA-13 pavement,6dB on OGFC-13 pavement, contrasting with AC pavement. On noise reduction effect, it is another effective reduction method of tyre-to-road noise with OGFC-13 pavement and SMA-13 pavement.
