Mounting makes great contribution for the conservation and exhibition of Chinese old documents,but materials have inadequate parts: alum can accelerate the speed of aging, reduce its durability; traditional adhesive is easily mildewing, not favorable for long conservation; Because of environment and human factors, paper documents will be contaminated by dust,smirch and even generate mildew stains. In this paper, the author did the research on the effects of mounting materials on the properties of paper, and discusses the preparation ofα-enzyme modified starch as well as the feasibility used in mounting. The main results as followed:Through SEM and FTIR the author discovered that the bone glue can provide much hydrogen bonding. By the analysis, it discovered that when the sizing volume increased, the absorption of water declined, the color became darker, the tensile strength first increased and then decreased. The results also show that the mixture of the bone glue and the alum has more superiority in improving the properties of the paper and aluminum was necessary in the process of mounting, but it will also accelerate the aging of paper, so the concentration should be decreased for the conservation of Chinese paintings, the concentration of glue better be 1%, and the concentration of alum better be 0.35%.By the research of influences on biological and physical properties of adhesives, the results show that starch solution has a good property in improving the strength of paper, even when aged 72 hours later, but they can not be used directly because of its instability as flour solution; Compared with alum, the influence of borax on paper is more tempered; CMC solution has better stability and mildew resistance.This paper discussed the process condition of modification starch used in mounting withα-amylase; the solid condition is 10%. Through experiment, the best process condition is testified, keeping temperature at 60℃for 25min, pH at 6.6, the usage ofα-amylase is 11IU/g to the usage of starch and the viscosity of the starch is 2.0mpa.s at 25℃. Compared with wheat flour, enzyme converted starch has better stability and mildew resistance. Besides, it can also improve the strength of xuan-paper, favorable for long conservation of calligraphy and painting.Ca(OH)2 has better washing effects, when washing at 30℃, it has the best effects, at that time,△E=0.54 tensile index=63.06N·m/g;When using distilled water and deionized water, the temperature must be control between 3040℃. When bleaching temperature is lower than 40℃, the color difference of sample 4 is higher than sample 5's, but the strength is lower than sample 5's; when higher than 40℃, NaBH4's capacity of bleaching enhanced, at the same time, the△E is on the upward trend. When using NaBH4, the temperature must be control between 3040℃, while using H2O2, it must be controlled at a lower range.
