The effect of current conventional thermal technology exploiting heavy oil is not ideal, but SAGD could obtain high recovery as much as 70%. As a new kind of exploitation, SAGD technology is still not perfect, and the design and research for SAGD lifting system have not form a complete and systematic theory and application procedures both at home and abroad. Therefore, the lifting system's method and procedure suitable for SAGD was designed for the exploitation of heavy oil, providing theoretical and practical guidance.According to the special method of SAGD, the improved SAGD lifting system's method and procedure was designed based on the traditional design of lifting system. The SAGD well productivity prediction model was discussed, and the influence factors SAGD production reservoir and the method to improve SAGD production were analyzed. The dynamic inflow of SAGD well was analyzed, and the relationship between the oil production and flowing pressure was determine.We chose the Beggs-Brill method to calculate the pressure distribution of wellhole, designed the procedure for SAGD lifting system optimization, and formed objective function for the lifting system optimization which is in the highest efficiency. The principle for designing of the depth of pump and selecting swabbing parameters was determined. According to the lifting system design theory, SAGD rod pump lifting system optimization design software was programmed and tested to design a new lifting system.
