In recent years, indoor air pollution is increasing with people's living standard, which has aroused the universal concern of the community. Formaldehyde is one of the major pollutants of indoor air, which can enter the body through the skin and respiratory system, which has great harm to human with characteristic of potential, universal, long-term. The purification of formaldehyde in indoor air is of significant. Because formaldehyde in indoor air releases from decoration material with continuation and slowness, which makes formaldehyde accumulation and leads to indoor formaldehyde exceeding. Therefore, the treatment of formaldehyde requires effect in a long time. Because of the characteristic of formaldehyde in indoor air, it is necessary to develop a method to resolve formaldehyde pollution. In this paper, chemical combination to reduce the formaldehyde was used as a new idea, and research a kind of formaldehyde purification material. Active group is amino acid. The principle is that amino acid can react with formaldehyde to form methylol derivative. Amino acid was loaded on the blank carrier to make adsorption purification material.Based on the idea that adsorption purification material can be used in indoor environment. Firstly, five kinds of carrier were selected:quantitative filter paper (fast speed, slow speed, medium speed), microporous membrane, cloth. According to the structure of amino acid, three kinds of amino acid were selected as the active ingredient: glycine, lysine, alanine. The formaldehyde adsorption purification material was placed in reactor, formaldehyde went through the material in slow rate. The results of experiment showed that:(1) Choosing of carrier:the three kinds of amino acid were loaded on the five kinds of carrier to make fifteen kinds of purifying material. Research purification material made of each amino acid. The removal efficiency showed that slow speed quantitative filter paper≈medium speed quantitative filter paper≈fast speed quantitative filter>microporous membrane>cloth. Adsorption effect related with the loading of amino acid and material aperture. The greater the load and the smaller the aperture resulted the better adsorption. (2) Choosing of active ingredient:the three kinds of amino acid was loaded on the selected blank carrier-slow quantitative filter paper and prepared three kinds of adsorption purification materials. Research the removal efficiency of three kinds of adsorption material in compare. The efficiency is that glycine≈lysine>alanine.(3) Influence of various factors to purification efficiency:use glycine as the active ingredient, and research the factors such as impregnating time, the concentration of solution, the temperature pH of solution, Formaldehyde concentration and formaldehyde gas flow rate. Purification temperature and flow rate increasing is not benefit to the removal efficiency of formaldehyde, the higher pH of impregnating solution, the more favorable adsorption of formaldehyde gas, and the best pH is 10. Removal efficiency decreases with formaldehyde concentration increases, but the adsorption capacity of formaldehyde enhances.
