Amino silicone softener is the most widely used silicone softener at the present.The softness, fleeciness, smoothness and elasticity of poplin, canvas and flax were tested by the stiffness testing instrument, the wrinkle recovery angle testing instrument and KES. Then we get the best evaluation methods. The different textile structure affect the soft performance.The effect of different charge on the surface of canvas to the soft performance also is studied.In the experiments, seven different amino silicone softeners in the market are collected. Their commercial names are Extrasoft,21645,21650,8417,8460,8630 and 8803. Different fabrics (poplin, canvas and flax) are treated by softeners with different concentrations (10g/L,20 g/L,30 g/L,50 g/L,100 g/L). The stiffness, the wrinkle recovery angle, the shearing rigidity, the bending rigidity, the compression work and the mean friction coefficient are tested. The veracity of different testing methods to react the textile soft property are studied. Then the best evaluation methods is got. According to the best evaluation methods, comparisons are done between the poplin and canvas and between the canvas and flax. From the two aspects,the impact of the different textile structure to soft performance is analysed. We study how to choose the softener to improve the softness, fleeciness, smoothness or elasticity of the poplin, canvas or flax.The best evaluation methods is got. The wrinkle recovery angle is chosen to characterize elasticity, the bending rigidity is chosen to characterize softness, the mean friction coefficient is chosen to characterize smoothness, and the compression work is chosen to characterize fleeciness. The last three are tested by KES. This valuation methods do better on reflecting the property of textile.Because of the different structure of the poplin and canvas, the soft performance is different. After finished by the softener,the elasticity and smoothness are improved with the same level. The fleeciness and softness of the canvas are improved a lot.The fleeciness of poplin become worse.Because of the different structure of the flax and canvas,the soft performance is also different. After finished by the softener,the smoothness are improved with the same level. The fleeciness and softness of the canvas are improved a lot.The fleeciness of flax become worse.When the stiffness is used to characterize softness, the viscosities influence greatly. The poplin and canvas can get better softness in the concentration 10-20g/L in the low viscosities and in the concentration 30g/L in the high viscosities. To the poplin and canvas, in order to get the better wrinkle recovery angle, the concentration of the softener is about 50g/L.The bending rigidity and the mean friction coefficient of the poplin is influenced by the viscosities. The amino values and concentrations influence the wrinkle recovery angle greatly. For the poplin, the concentrations influence the compression work apparently. For the canvas, the viscosities and amino values influence the bending rigidity and the mean friction coefficient mostly, the concentrations decide the wrinkle recovery angle, the compression work is closed related to the viscosities and concentrations. For the flax, if the viscosities is high or the amino values is high, the bending rigidity and the mean friction coefficient is low. And the amino values and concentrations influence the compression work most.To improve the softness and smoothness of the poplin, we should choose the softener with the high viscosities, and if the concentration is high, the fleeciness and elasticity can be improved. To improve the softness and smoothness of the canvas, we should choose the softener with the high viscosities and high amino values, when the amino values and the concentrations is high, the elasticity can be improved,when the viscosities and the concentrations is high, the fleeciness can be improved. To improve the softness and smoothness of the flax, we should choose the softener with the high viscosities or high amino values, the amino values and the concentrations influence the fleeciness.Some researches are done on the impact of different charge on the surface of canvas to the soft performance. the canvas with more negative charge or some positive charge is propitious to the improve of the soft performance.
