With the development of cluster drilling, especially the oil exploration high-density infill projects were launched on the sea in recent years, collisions between drill and well before occurred frequently. Once the collision between drill and well before occurs, there will be millions of dollars in economic losses. Drilled through the casings and emergences of dangerous appeared several times in the large cluster well projects of Bohai Oilfield. It is necessary to design a set of independent oil anti-collision and ranging system to prevent the occurrence of such accidents.For the analysis and experience of the past various means for anti-collision systems, such as water acoustic sensor method, well trajectory prediction method, etc, also the RMRS is being rapidly spread in gas exploration, a new anti-collision theory which is the combination of magnetic measuring technology and SMWD magnetic ranging principle is presented in this paper. This theory is based on the existing ZT-MWD sophisticated equipment. The basis of magnetic measurements is using the magnetic field metrical features of ZT-MWD Fluxgate Magnetometer, ZT-MWD orientational angle measurement function as the source of distance measuring basic data. With the new magnetic source tooling and the full-featured ground software, the efficiency of anti-collision can be greatly improved and costs are reduced. This is an effective design methods and advanced design concepts.This paper mainly introduces the status of the magnetic ranging technology, elaborating SMWD magnetic measuring principle and measurement tools-Fluxgate Magnetometer. Also a measurement model based on this theory is given and established. Through a large number of model calculation and various simulations with the software Maxwell v11, various technical parameters and magnetic source tooling will be determined. With the currently most advanced permanent magnet materials and magnetizing technical, equipments are designed and manufactured, non-magnetic environment is set up, various field tests are carried on simulation drilling platform. At the same time, features of the ground software are improved. Receiving the measured data and debugging the system to be applied to the real cluster wells anti-collision in offshore oil exploration.
