City is the main area of human habitation and the center of human activity. Urban land use has significantly changed in the process of urban development, and the land cover change brought by it effects urban ecology on the micro and macro aspects. The relationship between the urban land use/cover change and urban ecological security was mainly discussed to study how to regulate the affect of urban land use caused to urban ecological security and making it have a positive development from the perspective of urban land development and utilization.The characteristics of urban land use and the impact of urban ecological was analyzed, the impact mechanism was established in this paper. Wuhan city was selected as study area based on the systematic analysis of theoretical foundation, with the remote sensing image interpretation results and the detailed land use investigation data of Hubei province from 1996 to 2005, the characteristics of land use changes in Wuhan was analysized in dynamic models. On the other hand, under the PSR framework, by building the index system and assessment evaluation of the ecological security of Wuhan and using the Analytic Hierarchy Process that given the weights to each indicator and the method of composite index, this paper calculated the value of ecological security of Wuhan in various years. Depend on the two front parts of this study, the article calculated the correlative relationship between the index of the urban land use and the value of the urban ecological security in Wuhan. After that, it discussed the relationship between the two facts.There are the main conclusions of this paper:(1)The features of land use/cover change of Wuhan had two points. The first was the changes in the number, which were the reduction of the arable land the and the increasing settlement. The another point was the extent changes of the land use, and there existed the differences in the urban districts of Wuhan.(2)In the study period, the ecological security of Wuhan had there states, which were the moderately warning and the early warning and the more security. To analyze the transformation trend of the ecological security of Wuhan, there were clear signs of improvement, including the value of the ecological security of Wuhan that was closed to the safe state was reached 0.714 in 2005.(3) The correlation coefficient between the extent index of the land use and the values of the ecological security in Wuhan was 0.905 with the confidence level 0.001, it means that the probability of positive correlation was 99.9%, but the dynamic degree of the synthesized land use and the values of the ecological security had no correlativity.(4)The results of this study indicated that the factors involved in the ecological security of city were from every aspects of the system of city. Because we couldn't eliminate the impacts of the other factors brought, to proof the impacts which brought by land use change of the city on the ecological security of the city was not sufficient, by analyzing the correlation coefficient between the indexes.
