With the development of the life of people, the quantitative requests of the most comfortable cotton fabrics are more and more larger.lt is important to take the flame-retardant finishing to the cotton fabrics because of the case that the fabrics flame quantities is 40%-50% of the total flame quantities in the world. At present the more important flame-retardants are PyrovatexCP and CFR-201.Though the finished fabrics have good flame-retarded properties, the content of free formaldehyde on the cotton is much. How to reduce the content of free formaldehyde and make it more environmental is the most important problem for the textile finishing workers. This paper studies the cyclic phosphonate ester flame retardants (MCPPE) is a kind of excellent performance added fabric flame retardant, is a mixture of containing phosphonate ester structure. This article synthesize the MCPPE because of it has widely application, and its toxic, stability and the environmental pollution has become more aware, to avoid the new organic material caused the new problems. In this paper the synthesis methods of MCPPE was improved, adopting a high boiling point material instead of traditional triethylamine, omitted the reaction of triethyl phosphate, the MCPPE was prepared by one-step,the reaction step was simplified and yield is higher.Herein, the intermediate was prepared with trimethylolpropane and triethyl phosphite by the high boiling point catalyst. Using chromatographic tracking, determined the optimum reaction conditions, The structure of product was confirmed by melting point, IR, MS and1H NMR respectively. The condensation of ethyl bicyclic phosphite (1-ethyl-4-phospha-3,5,8-trioxabicyclo-[2,2,2]-octane) and dimethyl methylphosphonate has been investigated using the high boiling point catalyst under solvent-free conditions. Using Gas Chromatography tracking the process. The structure of the product was corfirmed by IR and the thermal stability was assessed by TG.Cotton fabric were finished by cyclic phosphate flame retardants (MCPPE), crosslinking agent and catalyst under different concentration.Through the study of the mechanical properties, combustion performance, thermal degradation behavior of the finished material and the surface morphology of the material, discussed the flame retardancy finishing technological changes to finish the properties of the influence, an optimal process was detected. The results show that the best finishing technologies are:flame retardant 250g/L, crosslinking agent 30g/L, pH is 4.5, catalyst (H3PO4+AICl3) 15g/L, second soaking, prebaking temperature 80℃,curing 3min at 170℃. In this condition, the afterflametime and afterglowtime of the finishing cotton fabric both zero, damagedlength for 6.0 cm, the oxygen index (LOI) value is 43%, tearing strength remain in 84% of raw fabric and little influence in handle. The oxygen index (LOI) value after 10 times washing is 36%.To further enhance the anti-flammable ability of MCPPE and to suppress the smoke release. We incorporate the metal oxide into the finishing solution in different proportions, then we finished the cotton fabric for its flame research. LOI, UL-94, TGA and other experiments have been studied in this section. These experimental results show that no matter which formulation of the MCPPE and the metal oxide(MO), the effect are better than pure MCPPE, and obviously reduced the combustion process of total smoke releases. Considering the addition of flame retardants, we select the total dosage of flame retardant of 250g/L, the metal oxide(MO) of 0.4g/L of the finishing solution for CONE,TG and SEM experiments. The results show that the addition of the metal oxide(MO) substantially increase the MCPPE's fire-retardant capability and reduce the total smoke releases.
