PC/ABS is a kind of important engineering plastic alloy, which has good formability, low temperature impact resistance, high heat distortion temperature and light stability. It is widely used in automobiles, electronics, electrical appliances, etc. However, the bad flame retardant performance of PC/ABS alloy has led to more and more fire accidents, which attract much attention to the importance of the research of flame retardant materials. Flame retardant materials can effectively prevent or delay the fire to win enough time for reducing loss. Therefore, it's necessary to adopt flame retardants to improve the fire retardant properties of PC/ABS. The most direct and effective way to realize this objective is to add flame retardants into PC/ABS alloy.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1. Add flame retardants FR-245 and Sb2O3 to PC/ABS alloy to get PC/ABS/FR-245 and PC/ABS/FR-245/Sb2O3 alloy through melting blending preparation. Test the flame retardant, thermal stability, tensile, flexual and notched impact properties. The results show that the addition of FR-245 and Sb2O3 can greatly promote the retardant properties of the system; The LOI and flexural strength of PC/ABS/FR-245/Sb2O3 system is higher than PC/ABS/FR-245 system at the same FR-245 content. The flexural strength and tensile strength have the same change trend.2. Add BT-93W and MBS to PC/ABS alloy to get PC/ABS/BT-93W and PC/ABS/BT-93W/MBS alloy through melting blending preparation. Test the flame retardant, thermal stability, tensile, bending and notched impact properties. The results show that the fire retardant property of PC/ABS/BT-93W/MBS is better. The tensile and flexural strength of PC/ABS/BT-93W/MBS are lower than PC/ABS/BT 93W at the same content of BT-93W. However, the notched impact strength of PC/ABS/BT-93W/MBS is greatly higher than PC/ABS/BT-93W.3. Add BDP and PTFE into PC/ABS alloy to get PC/ABS/BDP and PC/ABS/BDP/PTFE through melting blending method. Test the flame retardant, thermal stability, tensile, bending and notched impact properties. The results show that after adding BDP, LOI of the system is increasing gradually, which is not very obvious. The LOI and the tensile strength of PC/ABS/BDP/PTFE is higher than PC/ABS/BDP. However, there is not so much difference in flexural strength and notch impact strength.
