As an important attachment of a machine tool, the performance of a NC rotary table will affect the overall quality of the machine tool directly. For the past few years, with the development of direct driving technology, direct driving NC rotary tables driven by direct driving motors have been widely used in the machine tool building fields, which could enormously improve the processing efficiency and precision of machine tools. A direct driving NC rotary table used in a horizontal machining center and comprised of various kinds of pipelines and mechanical components has been designed in this thesis.Firstly, the internal structure of the NC rotary table has been analyzed and according to the demands of the specific achieving function of the rotary table the pipeline system has been designed. In the process of pipeline designing of the rotary table, the working process of the pallet-clamping structure of the rotary table has been simulated by the electromechanical simulation software SimulationX and been calculated by it. According to the result a velocity curve produced by the software we can point out the possible problems being in the pallet-clamping process such as impacting, vibrating and so on, and put forward some reasonable improved schemes.Secondly, analyze the pressure field distribution of the internal air tightness pipeline in the NC rotary table by means of finite element theory, which can effectively ensure the realization of the pressure maintaining function in the pipeline when the pallet is in its exchanging process.Finally, design the 3D model of the structure of the NC rotary table through the application of the three-dimensional software PROE, then by utilizing the FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software ABAQUS check and analyze the structure of the rotary table including: contact stress analysis of the braking structure of the NC rotary table, fatigue life analysis of the bearing support and collision analysis of the clamping structure of the rotary table. According to the calculation results of the software, we have analyzed the deformation and the stress distribution of the parts which are under the working load, and by adopting appropriate optimized design schemes we could effectively avoid any occurrence of failure conditions when the parts are being in the practical working process.
