Hydraulic support is one of the main equipment in mechanized coal mining, it is the key to ensure the operation space and safe production, and enduring variable and complex loads. Due to its complicated shape, it is difficult to analyze hydraulic support’s intensity, stiffness and fatigue life accurately by the classical method, and new methods to meet the requirements of modern product design are needed.Firstly, based on the analysis of the structure of hydraulic support, ZF5000/16/28finite element model is established by using Solidworks3D modeling software and Ansys Workbench, and its structural intensity is analyzed by using linear elastic finite element analysis method in fourteen working conditions. In the extreme conditions, the support cannot meet the strength requirements. Then, its modal is analyzed in two cases which are non-pre-stressed and pre-stressed, and the frequency and vibration type indicates that resonance will not occur.Based on the nonlinear analysis theory of structure, the whole support is analyzed by material nonlinear way. The maximum equivalent stress value has been greatly reduced compared with the linear elastic analysis, and its stress is below the material’s ultimate strength. The strength of support meets the requirement; but the whole distribution of the stress value is basically the same, it indicates that the plastic deformation is regional and local existence. According to the conclusion, an inference put forward which the results by using linear elastic analysis method is availability. What’s more, the main component part of hydraulic support column nest and pin shaft are analyzed by contact nonlinear way, the stress distribution and failure form are acquired.Secondly, the analysis results are compared with the results of the electric measurement. It proves that the finite element model is right.Thirdly, according to the results of stress analysis, the life is calculated in the durability test and the random loading by Ansys Workbench Fatigue in two fatigue analysis methods. Finally, the problems requiring further studies are discussed.
