With zero transmission, high speed, high precision and good dynamic characteristicsetc, direct-drive rotary tables become the essential functional part of multi-axis NCmachine tools, and many domestic enterprises have committed to the research anddevelopment of direct-drive rotary table in recent years, but few commercial productscome onto the market suffering from the technologies of design, torque motor etc.This article has been finished during the project that university-enterprise hadcooperated in the research and development of direct-drive rotary tables. In view of therotary table of400mm in diameter, the design of all the structure, technology ofguaranteed precision and brake in surrounded type of the rotary table were studied, and thedesign of the entire product was completed; focused on the analysis and research ofstructure of the brake in surrounded type, the reasonable structure parameters of thethin-wall brake was obtained; meanwhile, the structure of rotary table and its key partswere analyzed by ANSYS Workbench, and the stiffness of the bearing, strength of thebearing support, inherent frequency and braking torque of the rotary table were verified.The performance and precision of the rotary table have advanced or been close to theadvanced level of similar products abroad by experiments, and it was launched to massproduction, and achieved good economic benefits for the enterprise.
