With the social diverse demand and market competition, there are more and more requirements for the small and medium-sized profiled production. It is very significant to do the research on the metal rolling deformation regularity by means of the computer simulation technology and the finite element analysis software. Because the research can improve the rolling technology, the product quality and reduce the costs. The steam seal is not only an important components of the steam turbine but also the damageable parts, so the engineering and technical people pay more and more attention to it. In recent years, with the development of the steam turbine sealing technology, the steam seal, which is used in the environment of high temperature and high pressure, has appeared. All kinds of steam turbine sealing technology application has constantly improve thermal efficiency of the steam turbine and improve the safety and reliability of the turbine operation. The steam seal is the profiled strip which is made of 1Cr13, 1Cr15Mo and 0Cr13Al etc. martensitic and ferritic stainless steel. According to the different uses, there are many types of steam seal and most of them still rely on imports. This article systematically introduces the theory of the explicit dynamic finite element method , analyses and summarizes its application in the simulation status of the rolling process. Then it uses the finite element software ANSYS / LS-DYNA to establish three-dimensional explicit dynamic finite element simulation model and simulate the rolling process of profiled strip steel. By trial and error method, the article analyses the influence of the pass on the rolling process, and then it designs reasonable pass system which is based on the shaped strip steel rolling deformation characteristics and the pass design principles. Using explicit dynamic finite element analysis method to simulate the rolling process of the profiled strip steel, the article researches the deformation regularity of the metal, analyses the influences of the cutting depth quantity, roll diameter, friction coefficient and tension factors in the rolling process. Then it analyses the metal deformation characteristics, the amount of spread in the rolling process of each pass and describes the rolling force change, the stress and strain distribution. It is hoped to provide the reference for the production to meet the requirements of the final shape and size.
