As the hydraulic automatic gauge control technology widely used, the accuracy of vertical thickness of the strip has been significantly improved, and can basically meet the requirements of users. In contrast, shape problem becoming increasingly prominent. 20-high mill have more rolls, more complex structure, more kinds of adjustment mechanism. Compared with the 4-high and the 6-high rolling mill, 20-high mill have a stronger ability to control shape. The study of variation of 20 roll mill's shape is significant for setting and distribution of the adjustment mechanism, and for improving the quality of shape.This article describes the structural features, adjustment mechanism of strip gauge and shape, the development of adjustment mechanism of shape control for Sendzimir 20-high mill.As Sendzimir 20-high mill have a lot of rolls, barrel lengths are different, and the first intermediate roll can traverse, Contact Element Method used by unit on mill, can greatly simplify the process space. Then combining roll force and deformation characteristics, I use simple beam influence function method which considered the whole length of the barrel to calculate the elastic deform-ation of rolls. Shear deformation have been taken into account in the impact factor. During the calculation of the displacement of roll axis, I consider the rigid body displacement of the roll. At the same time, I use strip element variational method analyze the lateral flow of metal in rolling deformation zone,and find the lateral distribution of the on-load roll gap, and find the distribution of the tensile stress before and after. Then I shows the calculation of the overall process model. And I use Visual C + + 6.0 computer language to write relevant procedures.With the established model, the effects of the regulation of the first inte- rmediate roll shifting and taper, work roll crown and the second intermediate non-drive roll crown are simulated, including these control means on the impact of the on load roll gap, lateral flow of metal, rolling pressure, the pressure between rolls, and the front tensile stress distribution. The analysis will help further understanding of the regulatory capacity of the corresponding adjustment mechanism, and provide the theoretical basis for a reasonable shape control settings for the production.
