Alginate fiber is a kind of new environmental textile material, it is in line with the modern era concept of respecting nature and pursue natural ecological.In recent years, the alginate fiber is also in its infancy in the research and development of textile and clothing sector.Therefore,studying the performance of calcium alginate fibers and testing the calcium alginate fiber product comprehensivly and systematicly, to find out the advantages and disadvantages of alginate fiber products,this can provide a theoretical basis and reference for the development of the alginate fiber textiles,broade the application in textiles.The issue first start from the basic properties of calcium alginate fibers,testing and analyzing internal elements,across-sectional shape,mechanical properties, electrical properties, thermal properties calcium alginate fibers.By scanning electron microscopy,we can find there has grooves in the surface and has clearly irregular jagged structure.Calcium alginate fiber has great heat preservation and high moisture regain,but has lower breaking strength and the dynamic and static friction coefficient,when spun into yarn,there has poor cohesion between the fibers in the subsequent spinning process,we should be strictly controlled laboratory temperature and humidity, avoiding phenomenon of fibers wrapped around the roll.Based on the research of the basic properties of the fibers,design spinning process and the spinning process parameters rationally.Because of pure calcium alginate fibers spinning difficult, we design six different blended yarn,B lending ratios were:0/100,5/95,20/80,35/65,50/50,65/35,linear density of yarn is 18.3 tex.Under the same conditions,exploring the impact of alginate fiber content and blended yarn evenness, hairiness, strength and elongation.These six blended yarn woven into the weft and 1+1 rib knitted structure respectively through jacquard hosiery machine.Followed testing the heat and moisture comfort and mechanical properties of these six different blended fabric.It can be drawn:calcium alginate fiber is more suitable for the development of knitted products,But the content of calcium alginate fiber would has impact on the blended fabric mechanical properties and thermal and moisture comfort,With the increase content of calcium alginate fiber,mechanical properties were decreased,abrasion resistance becomes worse,the fabric breathable,warm retention was gradually improved.According to the basic properties of calcium alginate fibers,testing and exp loring threecharacteristics of alginate fibers,there are antibacterial, filtration, elec tromagnetic shielding.By contrasting with other conventional fibers,identify the s trengths and weaknesses of calcium alginate fiber products in these three areas, highlighting the product functionality of the alginate fiber to lay the foundation for further development of the alginate fiber production.The results showed:ant ibacterial rate reached 28.1% of E.coli, against antibacterial rate reached 43.2% of Staphylococcus aureus.Compared with the cotton fibers,calcium alginate fibe rs have superior filtration performance,in particular the blended content above 2 0% of calcium alginate fiber,which significantly increased in filtration efficiency. Alginate fibers have certain advantages in anti UV radiation and microwave ra diation aspects.
