With the development of industrial society, increasing demand for the energy quality of industrial production, the massive consumption of energy also makes pollution becoming more prominent, which put forward higher requirements on the coal industry. Technology of heavy mediun coal preparation develops rapidly, in large-scale preparation equipment, design standard, production automation and other research have made a lot of theories and practical applications. Auto-control of coal preparation plant reaches a certain level, many coal preparation plant has achieved local control、centralized control and remote control major equipment up and running, there are some coal preparation plant applying PID control or Fuzzy control algorithms. Heavy mediun coal preparation system based on PID control mathematical model is constructed, online monitoring and real-time modify parameter of heavy mediun coal preparation system’s liquid level of medium barrels, density of suspension system medium, magnetic material content and ash content of clean coal by PID controller.The subject based on development situation of heavy mediun coal preparation technology, introduced the process and main parameters of heavy mediun coal preparation, and discuss the application of ant colony algorithm to heavy mediun coal preparation. heavy mediun coal preparation process comlexed and have many control parameters, it is difficult to establish precise mathematical models. As a self-organized positive feedback algorithm evolved from foraging ants, ant Colony algorithm have high robustness, low requirement for initial routes, less number of parameters, and easy to control, as well as strong global search capabilities and other features, showed significant progress on the theoretical research and practical application in recent years. This project using Ant Colony algorithm as system controller, real-time monitoring and adjustment of heavy medium coal separation process in liquid level, density, ash, and other key parameters, realize automatic control of heavy medium coal separation process, In terms of the system hardware’s selection, because of coal preparation plant equipment is dispersed to regional distribution, within each region needed to control devices is limited, so use new small controllers of Siemens S7-1200 PLC as system controller, using manner of some of PLC decentralized control to build distributed DCS system. According to the technical requirements for accuracy and security,we select new ash gauges, density gauges, liquid level gauges and other instruments to detection system’s key parameters, this precision instrument can display and control in place, also can upload data via PLC first machine, for the operator to query and control. The system PC software is Kingview.This software supports up to 1024 variables,compatible with wide range of controllers, data logging devices, and instrumentation and other equipment, have good scalability and compatibility, coal preparation workshop in either dynamic display picture, or electric valve, switch for remote control. The entire system can accord with the technological requirements, and accurately select meet the requirements of the product, accomplish the automation production process.
