In the article, the domestic and foreign steel industry development condition and importance of the cold rolling strip in modern manufacturing industry are studied by inquiring massive literature material. Then, studying classification of the pay-off reel and tension reel and application in the rolling industry and analyzing importance of mandrel of their main spare part. Thirdly, according to actual used condition of the mandrel, which pay off reel vibrate fiercely due to stress is oversize and strip is not centered due to bending distortion is oversize. The article include mianly the fllowing analysis research in view of this question. The calculation methods of mandrel stress and strain are analyzed, and comparison their good or bad point so that technology people use.In the article, by using method of finite element analysis, mainly carries on the static, dynamic and modal analysis.(1) Static analysis:when coil weight is different, Miss stress and max distortion with calculation respectively. And study the position that stress will show and relation between coil and stress and distortion, we can get a result that mandrel stress and distortion increase with coil weight by studying.(2) Dynamic analysis:when coil weight is 20t and mandrel rotating with different speed, studying relation between speed and stress and distortion, researching result is that mandrel stress and distortion increase with rotate speed.(3) Modal analysis:when coil weight is given, minimum five frequency of mandrel.(4) In this analysis foundation, proposes the structure improvement opinion and may improves effectively the mandrel lifetime after the analysis computation. Finally, has compiled the mandrel stress strain analysis specific program using ANSYS parameterization design language APDL, which facilitates mechanical engineers to carry on the correlation analysis to the mandrel, thus instructs the actual production well.
