In recent years, the rapid development of steel industry brings the growth in demand of mill roll. In order to respond quickly to market demand and ensure their superiority in the fierce market competition, it is necessary for mill roll manufacturing enterprises to promote the information process of production management effectively and improve production efficiency through the optimization of production management processes and the allocation of resources, so that they can accomplish the production and operation goals. In the production process of mill roll, the heat treatment process is at a very crucial position. It not only accounts for half the consumption of resources and time in the production process, but also is the key procedure affecting the mill rolls quality.Under the background of actual production of a domestic mill roll manufacturing enterprise, the technology characteristics and production requirements in mill roll heat treatment of the production process were considered. The mill roll heat treatment process management and optimal decision-making prototype system was designed and implemented. The core functions of this system are optimizing furnace loading and simulation, and optimization of production planning.Through the survey and investigation in enterprise, not only the actual production situations and the existing problems were known, but also the software requirement analysis was formed. This system was developed according to the software requirement analysis. The functional modules consist of four parts:systems management, information management, production management, optimization and simulation of furnace loading. Then according to the actual production data, the database of this software system was built, and relying on which system unit testing and integration testing were carried out. Moreover, the furnace loading process in heat treatment was focused, and the constraints of furnace loading, the objectives of the furnace loading plan and the rules of optimal furnace loading were obtained through the analysis and conclusion of the results of field research. On this basis, an optimization method of the furnace loading plan relying on the rules was designed, which is proved to be effective through an example illustration.Based on the characteristics of mill roll production, this system realized three-dimensional dynamic simulation of the furnace loading process in heat treatment by using SolidWorks, an software for mechanical design and simulation. First, this paper researched the secondary development interface of SolidWorks, then designed and realized the methods and processes of the furnace loading. At last, this paper chose part of the data, which are the results of the loading plan depending on the rules, to simulate. The consequences prove that the method of simulation and optimization of furnace loading in line with the characteristics of actual production, and it has a realistic guidance for the actual furnace loading in factory.After this software system had put into practice, the modules of systems management, information management, production management, optimization and simulation of furnace loading can offer the actual production help and practical value, which can be used as the foundations of optimal decision for company managers as well through response of the system from the related departments and staff.
