Industrial process airflow affects seriously enterprise's production conditions, operating environment and workers'health. Fluid is playing the key role regardless of transportation media, production materials, or environmental protection in the places such as mine ventilation, well blowout and aluminum electrolytic trough.CFD is an important method of fluid study. It can not only replace part of time-consuming and expensive physics experiments but also greatly improve the efficiency of process optimization. Therefore, it is very promising direction. Virtual reality has outstanding merit of visualization and three-dimensional display, so it's the highest level of simulation.This paper studied CFD methods of the incompressible and compressible fluid based on analysis of the basic theory of fluid mechanics; determined the three-dimensional stereoscopic display algorithm and the method of forming the three-dimensional image by the introduction of virtual reality technology; and proposed the scheme of three-dimensional display of simulation results through CFD coupled with virtual reality.On the basis of the analysis of air quality and heat of the underground mine, the theory of industrial ventilation and computational fluid dynamics was used to simulate airflow of Hongtoushan mine by specialized CFD software. The results of temperature, pressure, velocity and streamline were given and compared with the actual measured results, and the data of measured and simulated are compatible.Well blowout, compressed fluid, was also studied by using theoretical formula for different gas components in different diameter, pressure and wind speed. The simulation results of the space distribution of the concentration and possible ignition location and scope were analyzed accorded with theoretical formula and adopted the experts'verification.In view of aluminum electrolytic trough, on the principle of internal uniform air pressure, this paper simulated velocity and pressure of airflow of electrolytic trough, optimized structure and flue openings size of electrolytic trough and obtained satisfying results.In addition, based on stereoscopic display system of Northeastern University virtual reality and system simulation center, the simulation results were visualized so that the function of VR was realized. The created three-dimensional scene not only broadened the application of virtual reality technology but also enhanced the level of CFD research.
