The instrument of automobile is the main interface through which the driver can commute message with the automobile and the safely and economically running of the automobile is greatly influenced by it. Recently,with the widely using of computer,micro-electronics and field bus communication technology,automobile electronical technology is developing fast,and the traditional mechanical and electrical assembled instrument could not satisfy the need more and more.the aptitude instrument based on microprocessor is the necessary trend of automobile instrument development.After researching traditional automotive instrument and the situation of internal and external automotive instrument technology,the paper present and design a CAN bus automotive instrument panel based on the core is that the embed microprocessors, this project cannot only overcome those native disadvantages of mechanical instrument,but also it has some other advantages(pithiness structure,high design degree,small volume,good real time,high sensitivity to response,high precision,clear and direct display,more information,easily function extended capacity).CAN bus is a kind of serial communication network with high secrecy and good anti-jamming ability,and can effectively support distributed controlling and real-time controlling. CAN bus is used to simplify the communication network in the automobile.It could reduced the quantity of wire and improve the security.Base on the embedded system usingμC/OS-Ⅱas kernel system,a automobile assembled instrument solution project of which the core is the embed application multitask system is given.This can overcome the conflict between the real time of themeasure instrument and the date process precision.A new type digital assembled instrument based on 32 bit ARM7 MCU LPC2119 and LCD and stepper motor display are development.Using this instrument,the real time measure and display of many kinds of parameter (vehicle speed,running mileage,engine speed,coolant temperature,remaining fuel quantity,etc) can easily be made.The bus interface of CAN is obligated in this instrument system.The aim of doing this is to make this system can easily expand system function and can connect and communicate with other automobile electrical control system.
