In order to alleviate the dual pressure of energy shortage and environmental pollution, the research of alcohol fuel has become a hot spot. Therefore, the experiment research on the engine fueled with alcohol gasoline has practical significance. This thesis reviewed the characteristics and the applied research status of the methanol and ethanol as the alternative fuel in automobile engine. From the needs of the applied analysis, the theoretical analysis and calculation of E10, E20, M15 and M30 were conducted including the low heat value of fuel, air-fuel ratio, the mixed gas heat value and vaporization compared with the 93# gasoline. Results showed that the low heat value of fuel and the air-fuel ratio was reduced with the increasing of alcohol proportion and the difference of the mixed gas heat value was little between the test fuels. The vaporization of the mixed fuel increased with the alcohol proportion mixed in the gasoline improved.Based on the needs of the engine structure parameters and control strategy without any adjustment, the performance comparison test of the E10, E20, M15 and M30 with 93 # gasoline and the liquid drops of vehicle exhaust comparison test when the engine fueled with E10 and 93# gasoline were conducted in the JETTA ATK engine. Results showed that the main reason of the dynamics decline when the engine fueled with alcohol was increasing ofφa; And the reason of the dynamic performance increased when the engine fueled with E10 and E20 than the M15 and M30 was that the air-fuel ratio of the ethanol gasoline was closer to 93# gasoline andφa has a little rise. Adopting theηet to analyze the engine fuel economy showed that the effective thermal efficiency difference when the engine fueled 93# gasoline was slightly higher than that of the alcohol fuels. In high speed conditions, the effective thermal efficiency differences of the test fuels were not significantly due to the larger vaporization and the faster combustion of the mixture fuel.In the idle test, the emission concentration of the CO, HC and NOX when the engine fueled with alcohol gasoline were lower than that of the 93# gasoline; The NOX emissions decreased with the increased alcohols proportion mixed in the gasoline. In full load conditions, the emission concentration of CO and HC when the engine fueled with alcohol gasoline were lower than that of the 93# gasoline, and the trend that CO and HC emissions decreased with the increased alcohols proportion mixed in the gasoline appeared. The total NOX emission concentration when the engine fueled with alcohol gasoline were lower than that of the 93# gasoline, but that of M30 was lower than that of M15,E10 and E20. There was not significantly different of NOX emission concentration when the engine fueled with the M15, E10 and E20.In the different environmental temperature conditions, the liquid drops of vehicle exhaust comparison test results showed that the liquid drops all appeared when the engine fueled with E10 and 93# gasoline in the lower temperature conditions. The liquid drops when the engine fueled with E10 was more than that of the 93# gasoline in the same environmental conditions, and the differences increased with the decreased environmental temperature.
