Application Research On Motor Protection Devices In Petrochemical Enterprises

The function of detection and protection are usually done by electromagnetic component in the traditional motor protector. The error of time is bigger, the precision of protection is lower. The electromagnetic motor protector is hard to meet the increasing demand of motor protection reliability. The intelligent motor protection device emerges. It has the characteristics of strong reliability because of using PC. But it is difficult to set. There are many varieties of intelligent motor protection devices. So it is necessary to research the reliability and setting of intelligent motor protection devices according to the protection demands of different motors used in different industries.Based on the application of intelligent motor protection device in the Electric Power Substation in West Pacific Petrochemical Company, this paper analyzes the states of motor in motion and does research on the functions, principles, settings of intelligent motor protection device. This paper also provides some practical experiences of the applications for utilizing the intelligent motor protection device in the petrochemical enterprises.
