Currently, the safe operation status of China highway is not optimistic, because our country adopts lower "safety standards" and traffic participants are low in safety quality, which lead to the absolute amount and relative levels of highway traffic accidents stay at a high level, aslo accidental severity and property losses are relatively heavy.Especially some roads that cross over mountain after mountain,the limited natural environment results in long and big longitudinal slopes, most of which lean against the hill and face the cliff ,show some projecting security issues and become danger-areas, because of their steep grades, abrupt bends and bad visibility.When they go uphill, heavy goods vehicles on these roads will decelerate due to insufficient climbing power, which will increase speed difference between vehicles and passenger cars, increase demand of overtaking, probability of peremptory overtaking , thereby endangering traffic security.When they go downhill,the temperature of brake rises,because the brake has been used for long time.The phenomenon of brake-fade is obvious. When it is serious , it will cause complete loss of braking capability, as well as causing the frequent occurrence of accidents. It is hot spot of society.The paper was combined the alignment design of Guangwu Highway, and the main results of study, what is"The Comprehensive Safety Measures of Larger Slopes Road", studying in safety of hilly highway larger slopes road, Those contents are studied in this paper, and come to some conclusions.Firstly, it investigated the operation status of mountainous highways and collected some data, then put forward the main exisisting problems of GuangWu highway.Secondly, it calculated the route velocity diagram of Guangzhou to Wuzhou highway according to the speed calculation method of Guide, and made evaluation of its coordination .Thirdly, it analysed the safety of long upgrade and downgrade, and presented the safety solutions of long upgrade and downgrade, then gave their specific settings in Guangzhou to Wuzhou highway.Finally, according to research results, it introduced their application in Guangzhou to Wuzhou highway design.
