Public building includes of office, commerce, tourism, science, education, culture, medical care, communication, transport etc. Various kind of public buildings differ a lot in energy consumptions, commercial buildings consumes the most energy per unit area, secondly the hotels and offices, in public buildings air conditioning occupies 40~60% whole energy consumption. In china, the air conditioning energy consumption is different from one place to place, but the study on the air conditioning energy consumption is not carried out completely yet in China, and the refinement of research differ a lot. Therefore, it's rather significant to study the energy consumption status and saving technologies of air conditioning in public buildings in different region with different type.This paper makes the hotles as the entry point of public buildings' air conditioning energy consumption in Taiyuan. A preliminary investigation into the types and running state of air conditioning system deployed in hotels was carried out, and a typical one was chosen for measure and analysis. Each energy consumption rate and of the hotel's air conditioning system and working state of each component was determined by the test results, and the issue emerging was found to direct the optimization design.The hotel was modeled by DeST, and all the preference were setup based on the hotel's practical situation. The building's hourly cool and heat loads of the whole typical year were simulated by DeST and compared with the test data gained in the same conditions; It validates the load computing model built by DeST. The air conditioning system's energy consumption was also simulated using the model; The results were adopted to determine the best design indoor temperature.The energy consumptions in different occupancy rate were calculated to analyze the building's load frequency spectrum by time in heating and air conditioning seasons of the whole year, which is the basis to calculate the energy consumption rate.More reasonable models were built under the consideration of the equipment operation characters in different conditions to calculate the air conditioning energy consumption. The hotel's air condition system design was optimized in energy saving through frequency conversion, unit preference and coordination, etc.And the new models'system energy consumptions and FEERs in different occupation rate were calculated to be compared and analyzed.
