Hydraulic excavator is one of important products of construction machinery, It is used widely in roads, bridges, buildings, underground engineering, and other places. The development speed and reliability of product become the critical factors in enerprise, with excavator market competing sharply. And the traditional design method of product development takes longer cycle, higher cost, less market competitiveness. Accordingly, the working device of hydraulic excavator is parametricly designed with UG's second development technology and database technology, and dynamically simulated using Admas software in this subject.Firstly, this paper analyzed the theory and structure of the working device of hydraulic excavator. The digging opration of working device is completed by the cooperation of bucket hydraulic cylinder arm hydraulic cylinder and boom hydraulic cylinder.The hydraulic cylinder is a common part, and it is repeatly designed. The parts with similar structure and shape can be classified a Part Family, then a new part is desinged by modificating the one of the Part Family. The rotative parts of excavator is analysed emphasisly by Grouping Technique, and parametric design is introduced according to an example of hydraulic cylinder.On the basis of in-depth study UG's secondary development technology, this subject establishes parametric design module of the working device of hydraulic excavator, comprehensively applying UG/Open API, UG/Open MenuScript and UG/Open UIStyler secondary development tools of UG, meanwhile adopting the expression parametric design method. This paper detailedly intruduced the application program connection of VC++6.0 and UG 6.0, the visual design of the dialog box and the user interface design. Consequently, the parametric design of the working device of hydraulic excavator was completed, and the excavator used parts database was established, which achieved to the rapid design of series of products.Finally, the working device of hydraulic excavator was dynamicly simulated based on virtual prototyping technology. The model of parameter design in UG environment was imported into Adams, then a complete virtual prototype model is established by adding constraints, load and drive functions. The work process of the working device of hydraulic excavator was dynamically showed, and the entire movement trace of teeth tip was automatically drawed with a post-processing operation after Kinematics simulation, then analysed the position and value of maximum digging depth, maximum unloading height and maximum digging radius; The force's change of the joint that is between active arm and boom is the fiercest. Therefore, amplifying the diameter of joint pin or intensify the thickness of steel plate can improve excavator working device's reliability.
