| In recent years, due to the expansion of scale and the surge in enrollment, a large number of colleges and universities in China have established new campuses. Therefore, how to map out and build a campus that meets the requirements of modern higher education has become an issue of common concern. Firstly, according to the evolution and current situation of college campus design modes at home and abroad, this thesis analyzes the deficiency of traditional design methods from the perspectives of traffic network, micro-characteristics and macro-layout and points out their insufficiency in fulfilling the functions of college campuses, furthermore, it indicates the importance of applying a personalized, high-quality and integrated concept of space design to the landscape design of college campuses. Secondly, based on the constituents of college campus design and systematic features of the personalized, high-quality and integrated concept of space design, this thesis explores the appropriateness and superiority of such concept. Thirdly, it puts forward some major design methods of traffic network, micro-characteristics and macro-layout according to that concept. In the end, it proves the feasibility and suitability of the personalized, high-quality and integrated space design system by exemplifying typical cases of current campus design.1. The deficiency of traditional design and its insufficiency in fulfilling the functions of college campuses are mainly manifested in the following aspects: the excessive pursuit of formal symmetry in transport network and the lack of multilevel and multifunctional space for social communication and emotional interactions; the homogenization of design on the microscopic level and the absence of personalized design and cultural landscapes; the lack of organic connections between divided and integrated design on the macroscopic level and the failure to meet the elastic demands in the future. The application of a high-quality, heterogeneous and integrated concept of space design to the design of college campuses could solve the above problems effectively.2. Fixed objects, geographic environment and abstract space are main factors of college campus design. The high-quality, heterogeneous and integrated space design system has the characteristic of combining static system with dynamic development. Therefore, the campus spaces of different levels form a relatively complete unity. On the basis of such features, the campus design could meet the demands of building a personalized, ecologically-friendly and humanized modern college campus and further facilitate the harmonious development of man and environment.3. The space design of college campuses should be based on the concept of the high-quality, heterogeneous and integrated space which emphasizes the overall optimization and coordination. The transport network is designed according to the people-oriented principle and the demand of multilevel and multifunctional spaces for social communication and emotional interactions so that high efficiency can be achieved. Different modes are applied to design on the microscopic level to build unique heterogeneous spaces that show the update and development of historical, cultural and natural landscapes. By use of ideographic methods of phenomenology and the way of creating artistic conception, the time and space can be alienated, strengthened and aggregated, and then the purpose of heterogeneity can be fulfilled. In line with different functions of different areas in the campus and the method of dividing space on functional basis, the design combines space division and integration so that a relatively coordinated unity can be formed and the macro-layout turns to be appropriately integrated.4. The last part of this thesis explains the application of this personalized, high-quality and integrated concept of space design to the overall design of college campuses by taking the new campus design of Zhengzhou University as an example. |
