Involving in the mettle and spirit of our country, University becomes an emphatic portion of society. Outdoor intercourse space in campus, which reflects the spirit of a university is as important as teaching space.Based on architectural theory and by dint of related theory of sociology, psychology and environmentology, this thesis focuses on people's behavior in outdoor space and factors affecting on it from the aspects of relation between communication and space quality and interaction between education and society.This thesis consists four chapters.In chapter one, Reviewing the evolvement of the idea of university and the history of the development of space in campus, analyzing the status of campus space in China are to show the trend of university development.Chapter two mainly researches the elements and attributes of campus space supporting by examples in reality.Chapter three, the core of the thesis, contains of classifying campus spaces and analyzing them with examples followed by suggestions of design. In the end of the chapter, directed principles are proposed.At last, design methodology is brought forward in chapter four which summarizes the whole thesis. Being a real space, outdoor space in campus has the influences both on material and culture aspects of society considering its tight contact with it. Giving the speciality of the people in university, it can be known that analyzing the behavior and psychology of them meanwhile researching the idea and space developing tendency of university is the precondition and gist for campus space design. Footing on this, it is believed that new ideas of design will be more livable in the future. The whole thesis is about 67,000words with 225 pictures.
