High-speed railway is an important symbol of a national rail transport modernization. CRH5 high-speed EMU has excellent quality of high-speed operation;It uses a lightweight high strength aluminum alloy body, greatly reducing the weight of the vehicle itself, which creates the conditions of high-speed operation for the EMU.The subject of this paper is CRH5 EMU M2S Vehicle body. The design for increasing the height of car body, the structure strength analysis,modal analysis and structure optimization is studied in this paper. It can provide reference for the vehicle body design of the high-speed EMU. This paper mainly completes the following tasks:1. The design of CRH5 EMU M2S-type structural heightening Vehicle body2. Built FE model of CRH5 EMU M2S-type structural which is heighten. Modeling process of the Vehicle body structure has been simplified, and this paper has made the analog processing for welding and accessories weight.3. According to the standard《EN 12663》, strength for body shell 10 load cases is calculated, and Von Mises stresses and displacement distribution are obtained, then strength is verified. Characteristics of body shell's stresses distribution and structure designing are summarized4. Model analysis of CRH5 EMU M2S-type structural which is heighten. The first six band vibration frequencies and modes under both no-load state and full load state of the whole vehicle were obtained in the modal analysis. The first band vertical bending frequency is greater than 10Hz, which is higher than bogie frequency to avoid resonance of the body structure and the bogie.5. This paper makes optimum structural design for side wall of Vehicle body with the software of OptiStruct. In the procedure of optimization, side wall section size as the design variable, the weight of vehicle body is set as objective of this optimization; maximum stress and displacement are set as constraints. Finally, the optimum result is verified.This study provides certain reference value for structure analysis of high-speed vehicle and structure optimization of the big scale engineering, and also makes certain foundation for deeply research of Railway Vehicle's optimization design.
