As a distribution simulation technology standard of IEEE, HLA (High Level Architecture) has solved two problems in simulation domain: cooperation and repeatability. Combining HLA technology with some special visual simulation technology becomes an important research orientation in distributed simulationBased on the development task background of a military type project Submarine Voyage Training Simulator, the paper attempts to build a HLA simulation system and involves the key techniques of simulation system, such as the development of federate, function realization. The main work and achievements are as follows:By researching the characteristics of HLA, together with project situations, the system scheme of warship controlling simulation system based on HLA is reasonably advanced in this paper. The development of federation is finished and the general structure of the system is built. By applying the object-oriented method, the ship operation simulation system is analyzedwith a unified modeling language in order to achieve the federation member instance analyzing, behavior design and the flow of motion design so that a foundation for system implementation is laid.The six degree of freedom motion model of warship is analyzed. The simulation model is built with Simulink and then transferred to C++ code with RTW. After changing the code, the model is considered as a federation member of the distributed simulation system. At the same time, the errors of the four kinds of navigation sensors of the ship are analyzed and after error compensation the navigation sensors are added to the simulation system as a simulation node.At last, the implementation of system is expatiated since the beginning of system development both in software and hardware. The development of interface which has nothing to do with VR-Link protocol is finished, the function of federation member is realized and the development of the program of communications among simulation nodes is finished. By analyzing the simulation results, the simulation system meets the anticipated request.
