Holding pole is a special crane, playing an important role in constructing high electric transmission tower. The holding pole is designed to build 370m world highest Zhoushan electric power transmission tower. For the first assembling loadcase of the tower, a site test is done to check whether the design of the holding pole is reasonable or reliable. The site mechanics test plan with electric resistance strain gauges has been designed. The locations of strain gauges have also been defined according to the finite element analysis results. The stresses of each measure point have been acquired from site experiment data. The finite element nonlinear statics numerical analysis has been done through MSC.Marc to corresponding site mechanic experiments, whose results coincide with the test ones. The analysis results show that the site mechanic experimental plan is reasonable, the crane is up to the design target, and the stesses are within the safe range. The site test and its analysis results can provide reference to the optimum design and safe operation of holding poles.
