The Study Of The Traditional Residence Architecture Of Zhangjiakou Area

Zhangjiakou area locates in north-western region of Hebei Province connects with Shanxi and Inner Mongolia,about 180km away from Beijing. It's also the closest and most convenient route from the Mongolian Plateau south to the Central Plains . Therefore, the importance of location decides Zhangjiakou to become the thoroughfare as the hub of the Central Plains and the north of demoer. Zhangjiakou,in ancient times, had become military defense and the land business center into Mongolia and Russia and Eastern Europe.It's also the forward position of campaign between nomads and the Chinese national.Zhangjiakou region has a very unique blend of geographic conditions and cultural characteristics of Mongolian.It covers the formation of natural, social and other multiple factors.Therefore,among the residential building which are affected by these factors,also reflects these qualities, making Qianbei of residential construction as an important carrier of its local culture and component.Traditional houses is rapidly aging and disappearant in the rapid process of modernization. This is a crisis of loss of regional culture.Firstly,from Zhangjiakou region of the subject by the existing traditional architecture,the author,by this issue, analysis and summarizes the distribution of Zhangjiakou city and county representative of the traditional architecture of settlements characteristics, site selection, compound type, single building type, layout, spatial composition, shape features, structural systems, construction practices, construction techniques, detailed decoration and etc. through survey, mapping, interviewing and data collection from the whole to the individual and from the general to the specific method.Moreover,this thesis preliminarily studies of these facters ,as the geography, climate, local customs, habits, aesthetic requirements, cultural history and environmental factors of traditional architecture of the region's formation,affect the formation,development,distribution, architectural form, architectural cultural, architectural value, etc. of traditional architecture of settlements. Lastly,this thesis explored the architectural cultural value of traditional houses in the area,which hidden in the native architecture and riched history, cultural characteristics and geographical feature and made on some methods and measures of protection of the Traditional Houses in Zhangjiakou area.
