The Universal Design Research Of Intelligent Household Electrical Product Interface

As the arrival of the 21st century, our society has accessed the era of information with rapid technologies development. With the popularization and application of digital and network information technologies, the articles for our daily uses have been increasingly presenting the characteristics of high-tech, auto-intelligence, especially the household electrical products. While more and more "functions" and "models" were integrated on a household electrical product, the interface is adding complexity and difficulty to be grasped its operation, which causes some elderly consumers staying back from using the intelligent household electrical products. Under such a historical circumstance of constructing a harmonious society, as a growing group, the elder people as well as the incomplete weak users who are receiving more focus need more loves and cares; however, the over-privilege with loves and cares will merely put these people into a particularly look-after group, and that should result in their psychological burden feeling less normal. Therefore, when being designed for the young people's convenience, the interface designing styles of intelligent household electrical products also need to be considerate of the disadvantaged users such as the elder and the disabled people.The core of this thesis didn't exclusively study and analyze the disadvantaged groups such as the elder and the left-handed of some disability, but by generally, objectively and deeply analyzing their physical, psychological and behavioral characteristics, searched the intercommunity in the users'activities and demands who are of different levels, and attempted to empower the rights for everybody to enjoy and use, so thus a designed product can not only facilitate the ordinary consumers further to operate and use, but also be compatibly convenient for the other groups such as the elder, the left-handed and the disabled people etc to reach its maximal extensibility and compatibility.This thesis mainly studied on the interface designing of intelligent household electrical products, discussing about the concepts, classifications and characteristics of interfaces of intelligent household electrical products. Based on software interface and hardware interface, it generally analyzed and studied the problems in the current interface designing of intelligent household electrical products, and concluded the affectability to universal interface design between the ordinary group and special group.Under the instructions of universal design concept, the disciplines of Man-Machine Engineering, Interface Designing, Product Semantics and Design Psychology were combined knowledge to propose a series universal design principles, design methods and evaluative standards for interface of intelligent household electrical products as a future theoretical base provision for industrial designers and interface designers. This thesis eventually combined three cases of universal design to prove the proposed design principles and evaluative standards in order to closely connect the studying contents and designing practices, It fills the current shortage domestically of design and research in this aspect., which will genuinely present the appropriate care to the disadvantaged groups such as the elder and the disabled people in our harmonious society.
