Air compressors are the machines for compressing the air and increasing air pressure or transportation of the air. Improving the running efficiency of air compressors is of great significance for the manufacture and energy saving. The main representation of the fall of running efficiency of air compressors is the air discharge scarcity. Based on the calculating equation for the air discharge of compressors, the working capability and the failure situation of various parts (including valve, piston ring, packing and pipes etc.) relevant with the air discharge are examined respectively, and the various air discharge reducing causes are analyzed. Then, the corresponding alteration measures according to each part are proposed, which effectively recover the air discharge function of the two high-pressure air compressors, so that the safe running situation of "one run, one preparation" is realized. The alteration measures include:the nonmetal valve is used instead of the metal one, and in the help of the software the movement of the valve is simulated, so that the spring force is reset properly. The piston ring is redesigned in the aspects of material, structure and style. The packing ring and the packing box are also modified, and the location of the grease hole is improved, etc. The alteration not only saved the running cost of the two compressors, but also offered a successful example on the reform and life-prolong for the old compressors by using new technologies.
