| Quanzhou, as one of the biggest seaports and commercial cities in Song and Yuan Dynasty, the development of its block space has a unique feature of self-organization. By using space-syntax theory, we analyzed the block space of Quanzhou in scientific quantification and reviewed its inner organization patterns. The first two characters introduced the background and significance of the research, elaborated the reasons that we chose street space as the object of the study and space-syntax theory as the research method, described the space-syntax theory involved in our research and its operations. The third character introduced the background of Quanzhou history blocks. In the fourth character, multi-dimension parametric analysis were made for Quanzhou spatial organization, then we got six most active blocks in walking scale. After that we analyzed the whole city space fabric and the urban faction, also we made a study of the relationship between the city space fabric and different kinds of urban land including commercial land, public green space and administration land. In the fifth character, in order to make a better understanding of the core blocks'function in the past and the recent, we studied the interaction of the six core blocks and Quanzhou city, then from the micro point of view, we revealed the important part that the spatial structure made in preserving and developing of the blocks by comparing the relationship from parametric analysis, physical form and function factors. In the sixth character, we summarized the conclusions. This text perfects the deficiency that we used to pay much attention to the description which might lack of precision and objectivity by using scientific quantification methods. This will be advantageous in catching on the relationship between the block space and the whole city directly. We hope this thesis could provide some effective suggestions to construction of cities. |
