Distribution system which faces to the consumers is an very important part o: the power system. It's operation reliability and voltage quality are highlj required. So it's very important that how to deploy the reactive power of th( distribution system to reduce the power loss of the distribution system, increase th< acceptable rate of the voltage and improve the economic operation. There are twc directions to research in the reactive power optimization; One is that th< mathematical model used in reactive power planning is in line with realistic situation the other is that the solving methods are modified to deal with the problerr of local optimum and computational burden.In this paper we firstly build a mathematic model of the distribution system, then analyze the power flow algorithm based on the structural feature of tht distribution system, at last chose back-and-forth method as our power flow algorithm. After analyzing the traditional reactive power optimization anc AI(artificial intelligence), we chose simple genetic algorithm as our bas( algorithm. It has been demonstrated that the improved method is reasonable anc effective.
