Crawler crane is kind of multi-purpose engineering machinery which mainly hoists, loads and unloads materials of big quality and volume and difficult to be handled by general machinery, and which is widely used in large construction projects and occupies an important role in loading and unloading engineering machinery. Compared with other cranes, crawler crane's advantage originates from its unique traveling mechanism. Therefore it can be said that the performance of its traveling mechanism exerts a direct impact on the performance and market vitality of the crawler crane. For domestic manufactures, due to the constraints of production cost and supporting resource, the traveling mechanism of crawler cranes presently adopts Linde's Load Sensing (LS) hydraulic system. Although this helps save resources, it is inclined to engine flameout when crawler crane makes a unilateral turn. In order to solve this problem, this paper makes research on the following aspects:(1) Make further research on the principle of the traveling mechanism's hydraulic system. Point out the problems existed in LS system's application on traveling mechanism through the comparison of gross power regulation pump-controlled system and LS system.(2) Build the mathematical model and AMESim simulation models of the traveling mechanism's hydraulic system of the crawler crane, derived the relationship between load sensing pump power output and load sensing valves pressure difference at both ends.(3) Make experiments on 100t to look for the reason of flameout. Compared the simulation results with experimental results in the same conditions to revise and validate the simulation models.(4) Propose improvement scheme of the traveling mechanism's hydraulic system, and conduct simulation analysis by use of the validated model to optimize the best diameter of the damping added in the improvement scheme. Conduct repeated experiments under multiple loading cases to validate the effectiveness of the improvement scheme.This paper successfully builds the simulation model and mathematical model, find why engine flameout when crawler crane makes a unilateral turn, and puts forward specific improvement scheme for traveling mechanism's hydraulic system of crawler crane, and optimizes the improvement scheme through simulation. In the end, it makes experiments on the prototype to test the effectiveness of the improvement scheme. Conduct experiments to test the models and use models to guide experiments are realized in this paper, and which is of practical significance.
