Crawler crane is an important mobile hoisting equipment widely used in industrial and economic fields. With the development of industry, the requirement for both the quantity and the performance of crawler crane has become increasingly higher, especially large scale ones. Slewing mechanism is one of the most important mechanisms for crawler crane, of which dynamic characteristics affect the working performance of whole machine directly. At present, people usually design hydraulic system of crawler crane by experience and analogy, and then find problems after the prototype machine test in the domestic manufactories. It not only costs much time and energy but also contains enormous economy risk. By the means of hydraulic system simulation analyses, we can find some problems at first and provide a suitable scheme for the control system.In this paper, dynamic simulation of slewing hydraulic system is studied on the background of the subject-260t crawler crane, which is developed by school of mechanical engineering of DUT and XuZhou heavy machinery Co., Ltd.(1) Various kinds of slewing mechanism and their hydraulic systems are researched, and slewing hydraulic components of 260t crawler crane are selected.(2) Based on the research on dynamic behaviors of hydraulic system, the simulation model of slewing hydraulic system on crawler crane is build by AMESim software and its correctness is validated through the experiment of 260t crawler crane.(3) Major factors which affect the slewing hydraulic system are analyzed by simulation. Meanwhile, new suggestions for electronic control system about slewing mechanism of crawler crane are brought forward.(4) Slewing hydraulic system on large crawler crane is improved. The result is that concussion of slewing is reduced more by connecting a parallel damping in the slewing hydraulic system.In summary, this paper presents a complete dynamic simulation and optimization research of slewing hydraulic system on crawler crane. All research results not only play an important theory-instructing role in improvement, optimization and design of slewing hydraulic system, but also have a good chance to be applied in practice.
