ABSTRACT:In the rail transport and urban rail transport system, battery and super capacitor are the energy storage devices for power converter system. As a hot spare redundant power supply for electric locomotives, battery plays a vital role. It provides energy for the locomotive control system and low voltage electrical system. Super capacitor has great energy density, it can provide short powerful current to drive the load, as its high efficiency it has been widely used in the urban rail transit system. In this paper, battery and super capacitor are used as energy storage devices, with half-bridge isolated converter and three-level bidirectional converter, refer to the actual locomotive rail line parameters, the paper studies the energy storage system charging and discharging characteristics and circuit performance.In this paper, two-level half bridge converter and three-level bidirectional converter are usd in battery charger HXD2 train storage system and three-level bidirectional converter super capacitor energy storage system. Further more, this paper analyzes the battery charging methods and super capacitor energy storage characteristics, according to the practical application, simulates the working principle and control characteristics. The half bridge charger and three-level bidirectional converter main ciruit are designed and the paper completed the selection of key components.Based on DSP2407A control system, the paper describes the composition of the control system and the software design process. By using MATLAB/SIMULINK software for modeling, the simulation results show the control method can meet the stability requirements of the system.Finally, a 15kw three-level bidirectional converter is designed and built. By debugging the energy storage system, this paper gives the experimental waveforms and analysis. The results of the experiment show that the energy storage system hardware designed to achieve the expected results.
