With the development of technology and the reform of mode of production, the pipeline system of production has been widely applied to various production practices. To a large extent, this way largely improves the production capacity of enterprise and shortens the production cycle time, which enhances the competitive ability of enterprise. However, under the existing changeless equipments, to complete lots of production tasks requires the enterprise to beat a good contraction space, which can improve the production line and solve bottleneck.Balancing and improvement of production line is extremely significant for enhancing the competitive ability of the enterprise. Assembly line balancing is indispensible for obtaining a continuous operation status, relaxing the bottleneck among assembly work stations, improving the labor productivity, and decreasing cost of mixed-model assembly lines.Taking a workshop production line of the engine factory of the X Corporation as study object, It use the related theory and method of industrial engineering, such as work study, work measurement, MOD method, the learning curve theory, the fish bone diagram, ECRS principle,5W1H questions technology, volume table mountain, to find out the bottlenecks process of engine assembly line, and to deeply research the reason of its'appearance. At first, this paper uses ECRS and 5W1H questions technology to cut off the bottlenecks process. Secondly, the thesis uses MOD method to optimize bottlenecks. Then, allocating skilled workers to bottleneck process, so that we can make the cycle time shorter than before. Through all mentioned methods, we cancel the bottleneck process, and we make new cycle time which reaches our predetermined demand.
