| An excitation controller, as a significant part of synchronous generator, is very important to the safe operation of generator and the stability of power system. Adjusting excitation is one of the most economic and effective control measures in improving the security, stability and quality of power system. With the development of large-scale integrate circuit technology and computer technology, microprocessor-based excitation controller will become the main stream of excitation controllers in the future. Along with the constant improvement in excitation control method set an even higher requirement for the computation of the microprocessor-based excitation controller. According to the developing direction of excitation controller both here and abroad, this paper researches and develops ARM excitation controller of synchronic generator by LM3S818 as the core of control.Firstly, this paper introduces the trend in development of excitation controller, including the development of hardware and control method, hardware structure of microprocessor-based excitation controller and requirement of excitation control measures to hardware. Secondly, this paper also introduces the history, feature and application range of ARM, illustrates the performance advantage of ARM compared with some other microprocessors, and the elements based on DC chopper excitation control. Finally, this paper expounds the hardware structure of ARM-based excitation controller in detail from main circuit of the excitation controller, data acquisition proportion, PWM proportion, power supply proportion and communication proportion. At the same time, after the basic elements introduction, this paper explains the layout and type selection of hardware combine with the theory of Electromagnetic Compatibility.In the end, debugging is in progress for partial functions of the excitation controller. The results show that the functions of the excitation controller accord with the design requirements. |
