With the development of social economy and the growing of electricity demand,the city transmission system is gradually developing from the overhead lines to electric power cables,power cables is gradually developing to higher voltage levels and bigger transmission capacity,it is an inevitable trend for the development of 500kV UHV power cables built in the center of urbans.In this paper, the full status of 500kV cable research, systematic introduction to the course of development of domestic and international cable 500kV,500kV cable that the development of domestic problems, and proposed a strategy to tackle a systematic study of the 500kV cable selection, design the main problem, power tunnel and construction notes and other key technologies.This article 8focuses on material from the cable insulation, cable wire core material and conductor cross-sectional area in three key points of a selection of 500kV EHV cable positioning; engineering design of 500kV cables arranged in the form of cable, cable length and laying sub-and other key segments of the calculation and analysis, put forward the scientific and practical design; of 500kV cable tunnel to establish the thermal field model analysis of the tunnel and its ancillary facilities proposed specific design and construction programs; from the cable laying, cable connector process and a key test program selection pressure analysis of the three important aspects, scientific and effective solution to difficult problems that exist in construction. This 500kV cables in urban design, construction and operation management with some reference value.
