The crawler tracked compactor works under severe working environment. In every work cycle, the sudden release of hammer will give a strong impact and vabration to the boom system of machine. And then affect the performance of the crawler tracked compactor and the fatigue life of the structural components. Therefore, at the crawler tracked compactor design stage, not only its structure must meet the static requirements, but also it is crucial to has good dynamic response to the whole system. So the research of dynamic property of the whole crawler tracked compactor is very necessary. In this paper, on the background of 400 t-m crawler tracked compactor project developped by Dalian University of Technology cooperated with XCMG, research the dynamic characteristics of the crawler tracked compactor based on virtual prototype technology. The mainly study of this paper as following:(1) the virtual prototype of an entire 400 t-m compactor is established in the dynamics simulation environment of ADAMS software, combined with Pro/E and ANSYS software, based on the theory of rigid-flexible coupling multi-body dynamic.(2) The typical work of the crawler tracked compactor-the sudden unloading condition is simulated, Vibration of the structural components at the sudden unloading moment are studied. The dynamic stress of the flexible body and the dynamic response parameters of the overall machine are analyzed, which can predict and evaluate the dynamic characteristics of the crawler tracked compactor at the time of the sudden release of hammer, and also provide load spectrum data for the fatigue life analysis of the overall machine.(3) Study on the impact of the changes of the main parameters on the dynamics characteristics of the compactor, such as the occurrence time of sudden unloading, the layout of the anti-backward tipping spring, the ratio of the lifting mechanism and the thickness of the chord of the boom. Through the comparative analysis of the dynamic response of concerned objects, the rule how the variety of main parameters affect dynamic performance of the crawler tracked compactor is summarized. These results can be used as the reference of structure design, improvement and optimization of compactor.
